A Response to Forbes Concerning IoT Applications

Let us start by saying we enjoyed the article Forbes recently published titled, “AT&T Introduces M2X to Ease Internet of Things Development.” The IoT truly is one of the biggest technological advances of our day and it is an exciting time to be involved in the industry. It is also one of the most complex technologies, especially since most developers are still pioneering the industry.

While there seems to be a rush for tech platforms to dive into the IoT, the industry lacks true data architects to provide consistency, and we need consistency to design systems that function properly. Data architecture is one of the most important facets of the IoT. As system integrators, it is critical for us to make sure businesses get exactly what they’re looking for.

In regards in IoT applications, Forbes’ article says that there are, “few solid case studies to go by.” While this is technically true because most companies seem to only talk or write about their platforms capabilities, we are actually building them. We have hundreds of case studies ranging from small businesses to enterprise clients that have saved millions through streamlined workflows and embracing IoT within their organizations. Our case studies come from hundreds of systems we’ve built and the nearly six-thousand automations that occur every day. So even though the Forbes article makes IoT applications sound like a novelty item, we’ve been implementing them for over four years at an enterprise level in nearly every vertical.

The IoT is the future. Life as we know it will be so automated that we’ll never need to think about things like turning off lights, watering our plants, or sending emails any longer. In fact, we strongly believe that internal corporate emails will no longer exist by the year 2020.

As we provide research and true data architects to the IoT industry, we will begin to see more and more actual automations in business and in play. Just talking about them won’t be enough.

With offices now in Hamburg, Munich, and Dubai, we are excited to be Citrix’s first Octoblu Worldwide Partner. Together, we are excited to help companies and individuals roll out the IoT.
